New to our retail wagon: Mountain Roaster coffee

We now have an expanded selection of gourmet coffee for purchase at the vineyard, to go along with your Black Sheep coffee mugs!

Mountain Roaster is based in Buckhannon, West Virginia, and is owned by Gene and Sarah Wells, who are both Master Roasters.  Sarah delivered this fresh batch to us, and we are excited to offer it for sale to you!  The varieties they roasted for us are the following:

  • Ethiopia-Yergacheffe – Cupping notes:  Winery, starfruit, grapefruit acidity, tropical fruit, clean, creamy body.  Sold in 1-pound bags of whole bean for $12.99.
  • Brazil Pea berry – Cupping notes: Unique sweetness and nuttiness.  Sold in 1-pound bags of whole bean for $12.99.
  • Guatemalan – Cupping notes: Chocolate, dry acidity, light body, floral.  Sold in 1-pound bags of whole bean for $12.99.
  • Hair of the Dog – Espresso Roast blend of Kenya, Burndi, and Ethiopia Yergacheffee.  A long night can be a great morning! Sold in 1-pound bags of whole bean for $12.99.
  • Flavored coffee in 8-ounce bags of ground: Hazelnut, Black Mountain Grogg, Caramel Creek, Chocolate Mist, Vanilla Bean. $7.25 each.

Humane Society Fund Raiser – June 25

The Vineyard will be hosting a fund raiser for the Jefferson County Humane Society this Saturday, June 25 at 6:00pm. A wine tasting will take place at 6:00pm, plus food and more will be included in your $20 admission. Please come out to support this organization. Tickets are on sale now or at the door. Hope to see you there!

New Expanded Hours

We have extended our Hours of Operation for the spring and summer season:

Monday and Tuesday: by appointment only
Wednesday through Friday: 4:00pm until sunset
Saturday: 1:00pm until sunset
Sunday: closed

Take a Tour on the Appalachian Wine & Chocolate Trail

Bloomer Candy Co. and Ohio Wine Producers Association will present the first Appalachian Wine & Chocolate Trail, a self-driving tour of 10 area wineries, May 13-14 and 20-21.

Tickets for the event will cost $35 per couple and $20 per single. Ticket purchase includes one candy dish per couple/single, two pieces of assorted Bloomer Candy Co. chocolates per winery, one appetizer per person per winery, and two wine-tasting selections per person per winery. Tickets are good for all four days between the two weekends and the event times are from noon to 6 p.m. each day.

Participating wineries include Black Sheep Vineyard in Adena, Flint Ridge Vineyards & Winery in Hopewell, Heritage Vineyards Winery & Guest House in Warsaw, Marietta Wine Cellars in Marietta, Merry Family Winery in Bidwell, Terra Cotta Vineyards in New Concord, Ravens Glenn Winery in West Lafayette, Shawnee Springs Winery in Coshocton, Unicorn Wine Guild in Belpre, and Yellow Butterfly Winery in New Comerstown.
