Help us with our harvest this fall!

We are looking for anyone who would be willing to help us pick grapes for our upcoming harvest. The exact dates are to be determined, as it depends upon how our grapes progress in ripeness, but we will do our best to have it on Sundays. In return, we will provide you with a harvest meal with wine after the picking! If you are interested, please email us (info@blacksheepvineyard.com) or message us through our Facebook page.

In other wine news, after a long absence, our Dark Continent is back on our wine list! $17.99 per bottle.

New Wines

We are pleased to introduce two new wines for the 2012 holiday season! Available now!

BlitzenBlitzen – Last year, a blend was made while sitting at a table late one night. It reminded us of winter! We had the idea of making this wine for the 2012 Christmas season. We took a blackberry wine we had made out of West Virginia blackberries and blended it with our Cabernet Franc and Dark Continent. This unique semi-dry blend is perfect for a cold winter night. It is bottled in half bottles. Great for gift-giving or sharing with your loved one on Christmas Eve! We enjoy it room temperature but it can be chilled or warmed.

$10.95 per half-bottle

sunset-bottle-loresSunset – A sweet Vidal with a touch of Foch for color. This sweet wine has hints of peach and apricot. Many amazing sunsets have been enjoyed on our winery deck with friends and customers, so it just seemed right to name this wine Sunset!

$13.95 per bottle

Feb. 19 Gourmet Dinner Highlights

Our sold-out gourmet French dinner last night was such a huge success that we thought we’d share the menu with you here after the fact! Chef Derek Roth did a fantastic job of designing creative courses to complement five of our own Black Sheep wines:

  • Artisan Greens with Poached Pear, Walnuts, and Goat Cheese. Wine: Ohio Riesling
  • Seared Sea Scallop with Mint Risotto and Citrus Marmalade. Wine: Leighton
  • Grilled Chicken Breast with Wild Rice Medley and Black Berry Gastrique. Wine: Hair of the Dog
  • Veal Roulade with Mushroom Duxelle, Spinach Garlic Smashed Potato, Glazed Carrots and Beurre Rouge (pictured below). Wine: Ohio Cabernet Franc
  • Short Bread Cake with Lemon Curd, Chantilly Cream and Black Berry Sauce. Wine: Bonnie

Thank you to Derek Roth, his staff, and of course, all of our guests, for a wonderful evening! We hope to bring Chef Derek back for another event in the future, so stay tuned! If you would like to speak to Chef Derek about planning your special event, he can be reached at derekrothwv@gmail.com or (304) 280-0200.
